5 Essential Questions to Ask
Finding the perfect person or service to clean your home may be a daunting task. There are many options out there and you want to be sure that you find the perfect fit for you. These people will be in your home often times when you are not. In some cases, they will be more than just a cleaning service but also assisting you in running a business if you deal with vacation rentals. In order to find a service or person that fits with your needs there are some important questions that you need to ask in meeting them.
1. How long have you been in business?
This is an important question to ask. It takes a lot of hard work and time to build a successful cleaning service. While someone who has just started can be a very eligible candidate you want to get a feel for their commitment level. You are looking for longevity in a service and someone who you are able to have a long lasting relationship with.
2. Are you insured?
Liability insurance is something that any professional cleaning service should carry. One million dollars in coverage is standard. This is put in place to protect you as the client. If you hire an individual who does not carry insurance they may be a less expensive option, but remember that they will likely not be able to reimburse you when something is accidentally broken. Accidents DO happen. Ask the service that you are looking into for a copy of their insurance. When you decide to go with the service ask them for a certificate of liability naming you as an additional insured.
3. Do you do background checks on all employees?
Background checks on all employees is imperative. These are the people that are going to be in your home. You need to be sure that they can be trusted.
4. Do you have a checklist of tasks that will be completed upon each visit?
Professional services should provide you with a checklist that outlines what you can expect upon each visit. This will clear up any grey areas in the future. In addition if you are looking into more than one service, you can see exactly what your money is getting you. If there are things that are not listed on the checklist that you want to have done, this is the time to discuss it.
5. What is your policy if I am unhappy with the service provided?
There should be some sort of policy in place that deals with this. Does the service provide a dollar amount or percentage off the next cleaning? Do they agree to come back within a certain amount of time to correct anything that was not to your liking? Make sure that you are on the same page.
